EL PASO, Texas – The ACLU of Texas released the following statement:
“Our staff in El Paso and across the state are heartbroken over this weekend’s attack, in which 20 lives were taken on what should have been a routine shopping day preparing for the first day of school.
EL PASO, Texas – The ACLU of Texas sent a letter of support in favor of three asylum seekers currently participating in a hunger strike while under U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody at the El Paso Processing Center.
FT. WORTH, Texas – The Mineral Wells City Council today voted 5-2 against considering an ordinance that would prohibit providers from performing abortion care.
MCALLEN, Texas – The Office of Inspector General today issued a report instructing the Department of Homeland Security to immediately alleviate the dangerous overcrowding and prolonged detention of children and adults in immigration detention facilities in the Rio Grande Valley.
AUSTIN – Texas Governor Greg Abbott today signed House Bill 2048, a bill that ends the Driver Responsibility Program, which required Texans convicted of certain traffic offenses to pay an annual surcharge on top of court fines and criminal penalties to maintain their drivers' licenses.
