Civil Rights And National Security Specialist Sahar Aziz Brings Expertise To Civil Liberties Organization

HOUSTON – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Texas has voted Sahar Aziz, Professor of Law at Texas
Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, as one of its newest board members.

Ms. Aziz has a long history in civil rights and national security – both of which are at the forefront of the ACLU’s work.  She has taught at Georgetown University Law Center, and has served as senior policy advisor for the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where she worked on law and policy at the intersection of national security and civil rights.   She has been featured on CSPAN, CNN.com, as well as in the Houston Chronicle, the Huffington Post, and the American Constitution Society’s blog. Ms. Aziz has presented her work to groups including the Aspen Institute, the National Endowment for Democracy, the American Bar Association, and the Texas Bar Association. She resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
