Angie Yamanaka joined the ACLU of Texas in May 2019, drawn to the organization’s powerful work protecting immigrants’ rights by combatting the Muslim ban and defending free speech. As the grants strategist, Angie drives and manages the grants program at the ACLU of Texas, helping to resource our vital work on the ground and expand our capacity to respond in moments of crisis.
Angie graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in history with a special focus on comparative revolutions.
Outside her role at the ACLU of Texas, Angie is a community organizer, mother, artist, and founder of a mutual aid community support network that provides in real-time assistance for vulnerable people and survivors of abuse/violence.
Angie believes in the power of the people united and hopes to forge a more just world, so we may see a permanent end to all genocides and nuclear proliferation within our lifetimes.
