Charelle Lett joined the ACLU of Texas as a Samuels Family Fellow in 2023.
Prior to joining the ACLU of Texas as a fellow, Charelle gained legal experience at the affiliate as an intern and as an intern at the Orleans Public Defender’s Office. She also externed for the Honorable Nandi Campbell in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
While in law school, Charelle was a member of the Youth Justice Clinic at Loyola University New Orleans where she represented Louisiana families in special education advocacy. Charelle served as vice president of her school’s Black Law Students Association and as a teaching assistant in an introductory appellate advocacy class. She also published on Black women victims of police brutality in the UCLA Gender and Law Journal.
As a first generation college student, Charelle earned her bachelor’s degree in African American Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans.
