Defend Texas Voters

Texas is already the hardest state in the country to vote. And during the regular legislative session — and the two special sessions that quickly followed — our elected officials tried to make it harder and scarier to participate in elections, especially for communities of color and people with disabilities.

Gov. Greg Abbott re-introduced voting for the third time as a priority issue during the special session which ended Sept. 2, 2021. During this session, the legislature managed to pass Senate Bill 1, despite advocates' hard fought efforts to stop it.
