All written policies and certain other information about prisons and jails is available to you through Texas? Public Information Act. If you would like to obtain a TDCJ policy not listed here, you should write:

If you would like a policy from a jail, you should write the sheriff or police chief who operates the jail.

The prison or jail has ten business days to respond to you. If they do not respond, the information you asked for is presumed available to you. For help in getting the information you are entitled to, contact the the Attorney General's Open Government Division.
