UPCOMING EVENTS IN THE DALLAS AREA
Annual meeting of Dallas Chapter of ACLU Monday, July 14, 2008 6:30 – 8:30 PM THe Dallas Chapter of the ACLU of Texas is having their Annual Chapter Meeting and Board Election at Metro Grill, 4425 N. Central Expwy, Dallas (one block south of Knox) – FREE valet parking available
Agenda 6:30 PM Reception with free appetizers (cash bar available) 7:00 PM Program begins with welcoming remarks, followed by an introduction of Board Nominees and nominations from the floor. The election of New Board of Directors will follow. After elections, the Dallas Chapter will discuss and outline a plan of action for 2008-09. 8:30 Meeting ends and the eating begins (feel free to join other members in staying for dinner!)

If you are interested in volunteering for the Dallas Chapter of the ACLU of Texas, please click here to send an email. Make sure to include what kind of work you are interested in doing. Volunteers are always needed to handle mail, help with legal intake, hand out literature at local events, etc. However, if you have a specific area in which you wish to volunteer, we will do our best to match your interests with our needs.

MALDEF, ACLU File Request for Temporary Restraining Order in Immigration Ordinance Challenge
The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) and the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Texas (ACLU) filed a request today for a temporary restraining order to block implementation of an anti-immigrant ordinance which was recently approved by Farmers Branch residents through a public vote on Saturday, May 12, 2007. The ordinance is scheduled to go into effect on May 22, 2007.
